NC State's Defense Shines in Loss to South Carolina in Final Four
Wolfpack's Stingy Defense Unable to Contain Gamecocks' Offense
Despite a valiant effort, NC State's seventh-ranked defense came up short against No. 1 South Carolina in the Final Four on Friday.
Led by Kamilla Cardoso's 22 points, the Gamecocks cruised to a 78-59 victory, showcasing their offensive prowess and suffocating defense.
The Wolfpack's defense, which had been a key factor in their success throughout the season, struggled to contain South Carolina's high-powered offense. The Gamecocks shot 52.9% from the field, including 7-of-16 from three-point range, while holding NC State to just 36.9% shooting.
NC State managed to stay competitive in the first half, trailing by only five points at the break. However, the Gamecocks pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Wolfpack 41-29.
Despite the loss, NC State can be proud of their outstanding season. The Wolfpack finished with a 29-5 record and advanced to the Final Four for the first time since 1998.
