Blue Note Jazz Festival New York Returns for 2023 Season

Festival to Feature Three-Day Charlie Parker Celebration and Harlem Speaks Event

The City Parks Foundation has announced the lineup for the 2023 Blue Note Jazz Festival New York, a three-day celebration of the late saxophonist Charlie Parker taking place in the Harlem neighborhood from August 23rd to 25th.

The festival will kick off on Wednesday, August 23rd, with a special evening of music and storytelling at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. The event, titled "Harlem Speaks," will feature performances by Grammy-nominated saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin and pianist Kris Bowers, along with a discussion of Parker's legacy and impact on the jazz community.

On Thursday, August 24th, the festival will continue with a daylong celebration at Marcus Garvey Park. The day will feature performances by several rising stars in the jazz world, including saxophonist Melissa Aldana, pianist Emmet Cohen, and vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant.

The festival will conclude on Friday, August 25th, with a star-studded lineup at Central Park's SummerStage. Headlining the evening will be Robert Glasper Experiment, along with performances by Brandee Younger, Cory Wong, and the SF Jazz Collective.
