Kevin Spacey Accused of Sexual Assault

Oscar-Winner Cleared of Charges in UK Trial

LONDON (AP) - Kevin Spacey fought back tears and dabbed his eyes with a tissue Thursday as he told jurors in a London court how sexual assault accusations against him left him "deeply ashamed and sickened."

The actor, 63, has been accused of multiple counts of sexual assault and misconduct by over 30 men.

In a four-week trial at London's Old Bailey court, prosecutors alleged that Spacey sexually assaulted three men between 2005 and 2013.

However, the jury found Spacey not guilty of all five charges against him, including three counts of indecent assault and one count each of sexual assault and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Speaking outside the court after the verdict, Spacey said he was "grateful" to the jury for clearing him and vowed to continue his career.

"I have always maintained my innocence and I am grateful to the jury for agreeing with me," he said.

"This has been a very difficult and stressful time for me and my family, and I appreciate the support of my loved ones and fans who have stood by me throughout this ordeal."

Spacey is still facing multiple civil lawsuits related to the allegations against him.
